Glimpses into the family heritage of Kevin and Sylvia Penny (2022)
ISBN: 978-0-6454229-1-7

This story begins in Comaum halfway between Naracoorte and Penola in the South East, South Australia where the author’s parents met on adjoining farming properties in the 1930s. They married in 1941 and lived on Nambour until retiring to Victor Harbor in 1974.

Family trees of both their ancestors, and of their descendants, are supported by a medley of stories, memories and photographs. It is a blend of history and memoir designed to capture the tenor of the times as a close family remembers. While many questions can never now be answered, this book saves some stories for future generations.

Thinking on paper (2020)
ISBN: 978-0-6483159-7-1

These opinion pieces were written over three years at the invitation of The Times, Victor Harbor, South Australia.  The reflections range over diverse topics: the importance of people telling their stories, the struggle to keep order, having too many choices, disposing of unnecessary baggage, the combined pleasures of a library and garden being enough, speaking up about refugees and more, 34 ponderings in all.

Positive feedback to the articles prompted their publication as a collection which is now into a second print run.

A few of these articles in newspaper format, are found on this website under musings.

George Tetlow and Mark and Jill Pearse: Lives in art (2015)
ISBN: 978-0-646-94445-6

This biography tells the stories of three Fleurieu Peninsula artists. It contains a DVD as each discusses inspirations and art practices.

George Tetlow (formerly of Studio 13, Normanville) left Manchester UK as a young man and found out about Australian life the hard way at Mt Isa and Woomera. Following mature age studies at the South Australian School of Art (SASA) and three years at Rigby’s publishing house, he returned to SASA to lecture for over two decades. A well-respected art educator and significant artist, he was a great traveller and exotic places and cultures often became subjects of his art.

Mark and Jill Pearse (formerly of Bungala House, Yankalilla) came from an Australian background and met through art studies at the National Gallery of Victoria. After three years living and touring in Europe, they settled in Adelaide. For several years Mark was an art master at St Peter’s College, then the Pearses established a pottery in the Adelaide Hills. Moving to Yankalilla in 1979 they restored derelict Bungala House to a family home and flourishing pottery outlet.

Barbara Robertson: An Australian artist’s life (2009)
ISBN: 978-0-646-50897-9

Born in South Australia, Barbara Robertson trained at the National Gallery of Victoria and returning to Adelaide, achieved recognition as a portraitist and social-realist painter in the 1940s and 50s. She also made her mark with the Contemporary Arts Society and as an art educationist, and for many years was a much-loved teacher at Adelaide Girls High School. In retirement she moved to Carrickalinga on the Fleurieu Peninsula and continued to paint, often on religious topics. Christ Church Yankalilla has a fine collection of these works, including a series based on David Gulpulil.

The book is accompanied by a DVD of interviews with Barbara and a catalogue of many of her works.
